Here’s Everything You Need to Know About PGDM Program

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), as a leading course in management studies, is a two-year management program offered by business schools across India. The program is essentially designed to give exposure to students – both experienced and fresh-out-of-college graduates – about the various facets of management. This is especially appropriate because all organizations, ranging from small to big, ranging across industries from food to fuel are run by people having experience in managing such organizations. Taking into account this ever-present demand, a PGDM program is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to run such organizations.
According to the program structure, PGDM is a rigorous two-year program in which the students are introduced with subjects in multiple streams of management such as marketing, finance, HR, operations and others.
In the first year, the common subjects introducing the various management streams are covered. These subjects include the fundamentals of marketing, fundamentals of accounts and finance, introduction to HR and organizational behavior and others. Certain business schools, such as Asian Business School Noida, which are sensitive to the environment surrounding us in our vicinity, cater to the all-round development of students with subjects in other important realms. These subjects include environmental management, business environment, and also subjects covering media management focusing on management in the media industry.
During the second year of the PGDM program, the students are assigned their specialization subjects depending on their preference. They then focus on their respective specializations for enhancing their knowledge and to get the required skills for adding value to the organizations where they will eventually get placed.
To learn in detail everything you need to know about PGDM Program, read a relevant blog on the topic on the website blog page of Asian Business School (ABS), Noida – which is a part of Asian Education Group (AEG) and is rated as one of best B-School in Delhi-NCR.

Unravel the MBA vs PGDM Dilemma, Know What is Best Suited for You

Students who have recently finished their graduation and are looking for an admission in a professional management program may just feel a bit bewildered as some may have recommended them to get enrolled for Master in Business Administration (MBA) whereas others may have influenced them to go for Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). They may ponder that not long back, more students used to prefer MBA but now there is a remarkable shift towards PGDM. This may make them ask themselves as to “why PGDM”? Well though outcomes of both the programs are pretty much similar, however, there are certain strong differences that they must know.
Being a postgraduate course, PGDM is offered by autonomous institutions as they do not offer an MBA since they are not affiliated to any University. Comparatively, it has got a unique advantage as compared to MBA, more so in case one is planning for a career in the corporate sector.
Another advantage of the PGDM program as compared to an MBA is that the curriculum in the case of PGDM is dynamic and more flexible as compared to that of an MBA. It normally gets updated frequently whereas the curriculum for MBA does not get updated that often as any change in course curriculum has to be approved at the university level that generally takes a lot of time. On average, the MBA course curriculum by Indian Universities gets updated after a gap of 4-5 years and in certain cases even more than that.
Apart from these, there are several more points of differences between the two seemingly similar management programs which the aspiring students will do well to understand and know what is best suited for them.

UNDERSTAND THE MANTRAS TO SURVIVE AND SUCCEED IN A PGDM/MBA PROGRAM

Aspiring students embarking on the professional courses like PGDM /MBA have a lot of enthusiasm and hope that these are the doorway to their future and the first step to their dream job or career. However, upon settling in into the system, they realize that there are a lot of confusion because they are not able to clearly understand where to proceed, how to proceed, whom to ask. In fact, so many things are running at the same time that they start feeling left alone in the crowd.
In this predicament, it is best advised that the students should seek to understand the ways and means – or “Mantras” – on how they can survive in a PGDM college.
One such ‘Mantra’ is “Getting Back on the Plan”, whereby it is suggested that the key to success is having the sense of destination. This is practically like a flight of an airplane in which the pilot is well-aware of the flight plan. He very well knows where he has to go and will start off according to that. But during the flight due to bad weather, wind, rain, air, traffic, turbulence, etc. the directions may keep on changing. These small deviations however are never a hindrance to reach the destination because the pilot is getting continuous feedback from the person sitting in the control tower.  So the hope lies not in the number of deviations you make, but in the plan, the vision and the ability to get back on track.
To understand more about such ‘Mantras’ to survive and succeed in a PGDM/MBA program, read a relevant Blog on ABS website blog page

The Critical Role of Top PGDM Colleges in Bringing the Industry to the Classroom

Normally, all top PGDM colleges in India have a well laid out program to cater to this strategic need to bring the industry to the classroom, so to say. In order to achieve this goal of bringing the industry to the classroom, Asian Business School (ABS) has a well-structured and exceedingly monitored “Campus to Corporate Connect Program”. International Study Trips Develop Important Global Perspective in PGDM Students

The fundamental objective of education is to provide us with knowledge of the world around us and develop us a positive perspective of looking at life. In addition, one of the goals of education is to prepare students for valuable participation in society.
Normally, a student masters the technical knowledge, skills, and abilities through traditional classroom activities. And, for a skilled professional management program like PGDM, it is very important to have a high standard classroom interaction with lots of projects, role plays, researches, business competitions, and industry internships to fulfill the needs of a changing business environment.
To achieve this end, top PGDM colleges in India like Asian Business School (ABS) in Delhi NCR’s Noida have a well-designed PGDM program that helps students in building the ability to cope with changing the business environment. Universally, this program adds further in the development of skill sets of students by including international study trips in developing a global perspective in PGDM students which further increases their employability score.
For instance, at Asian Business School, Noida – which is a part of Asian Education Group (AEG) and is ranked 7th Amongst ‘Top B-Schools of Excellence’ by CSR-GHRDC – the ABS PGDM Program has a strong emphasis on practical application and real-world experiences through international case studies, mentoring program and international study trip to London and make this program a holistic one.
To talk of the international study trip to London – which is also known as Oxford Study Program of ABS – it is basically designed to give students the opportunity to earn an Executive Diploma in International Business while residing in Oxford, UK. Along with classroom study, the Oxford Program includes participation in project work and on-site visits to historical and cultural venues in Oxford and London, U.K. keeping in mind the vision that “Until you actually arrive in a culture, and experience it and see your own reaction first-hand, it’s hard for people to understand what it’s like to work in a global environment.”

How ABS PGDM Students Utilize Internships as Career Launchpad

An integral part of any world-class PGDM curriculum, Summer Training Program (SIP) forms a vital aspect of the overall development of PGDM students. For, in many ways, it allows the students to experience and learn the corporate culture, develop skills, and help them to understand the corporate challenges and expectations which would help them during their final placement.
Most of the top B-schools in India today, therefore, include Summer Training Program (SIP) as a key academic deliverable.  A case in point is the Asian Business School (ABS) located in Delhi NCR’s Noida – which is a part of Asian Education Group (AEG) and is ranked 7th Amongst ‘Top B-Schools of Excellence’ by CSR-GHRDC – that thrives on the efforts of its PGDM students who continue to prove their mettle in national corporate competitions and placements, thereby strengthening the ABS brand in the corporate world. ABS offers 8 weeks of highly monitored and skill-based internship to its PGDM students to help them to understand the corporate challenges and expectations which in turn helps them during final placements.
Here, it will not be out of place to state that though ABS PGDM students like other management students are named interns, they are actually treated as full-time employee as they are actively involved in decisions, and are a part of the core project team involved in planning & implementation, on-ground research, marketing campaigns and brainstorming for target achievement which offers excellent hands-on experience and an overall professional development.
And the ultimate punch is that, in most such cases, ABS PGDM students end up with a lucrative job offer from the company that they happen to intern with … thus utilizing their internships as a veritable career launchpad!
